Fall protection training teaches workers (and the crews supervising them) how to plan for, and carry out, the rescue of anyone suspended in a fall arrest system after a fall. It covers OSHA-required rescue plans, rescue equipment and methods, and the hands-on skills needed to retrieve a suspended worker safely and quickly. 6444 Height Rescue – Authorized Rescuer
Presented By: 3M Safety Training
Starting @ $899/per person

Course Description:
As worksite safety evolves and improves globally, it is common to observe workers at height using fall protection systems consisting of the essential components of an anchor point, body support, and connector. A fourth component that is often overlooked is the ability to retrieve a worker should they become suspended in the system. A fall protection system is only effective if the ability to rescue the suspended worker is planned for and available. This is exactly what our fall rescue training prepares your crew to do. (If your crew’s harnesses haven’t been checked recently, this pairs well with our harness inspection service.)
This one-day fall protection rescue training program will educate students on the fundamentals of industrial rescue and the basic techniques used to retrieve a worker suspended in a fall arrest system. Participants will learn course content through a combination of direct instruction, workbook exercises, and multiple ‘hands-on’ rescue skills workshops.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does this fall rescue training cost?
The 6444 Height Rescue – Authorized Rescuer course starts at $899 per person. That includes hands-on rescue skills workshops, workbook materials, and instruction from a 3M-certified trainer. Contact us for group or multi-crew pricing.
How long is the fall protection training course?
It’s a one-day, in-person course. Participants move through regulatory requirements, scene assessment, and rescue-method instruction, then finish with hands-on rescue skills workshops the same day.
Who needs fall protection rescue training under OSHA?
OSHA requires employers to have a rescue plan and trained personnel available wherever workers use personal fall arrest systems. This course is built for the “authorized rescuer” role — anyone on your team who may need to retrieve a coworker suspended after a fall.
Is this fall protection training OSHA-compliant?
Yes. The course is built around the rescue-plan and prompt-rescue requirements in 29 CFR 1926.502(d)(20), and is delivered in partnership with 3M Safety Training, covering scene assessment, rescue methods, and both self-rescue and rescuer-operated techniques.
How often should fall rescue training be renewed?
OSHA doesn’t set one fixed refresher interval for this course. Most employers retrain their authorized rescuers every 1–2 years, or sooner if procedures, equipment, or personnel change; check with your safety manager for what fits your site.
